From practical travel advice to pointers for beginning travel bloggers, below are noteworthy tips from travel bloggers & writers I interviewed for The Traveler Series.
Recently I had the pleasure of being interviewed for the Zero to Travel podcast to share my tips on getting paid to travel as a freelance writer (if you missed it, you can take a listen here). Talking travel with Zero to Travel host and founder, Jason Moore, was a real treat because in the year since I’ve launched The Pin the Map Project, I hadn’t really sat down and discussed with anyone the whirlwind adventure of going from point A of launching a blog to point B of traveling on assignment and earning money from my writing.
Deciding to launch your own blog is an exciting endeavor where you have free range to create, say and share what you want with readers around the world. As the old saying goes, the first step of any journey is the hardest and when it comes to starting a blog it can be overwhelming to figure out where to begin.
This week, I am sharing ways to increase your blog engagement. What is engagement? Engagement can be measured in the ways users interact with your content-whether they are commenting, subscribing, sharing and enjoying your posts. It can be tricky to snag a reader’s attention when there are so many other fabulous travel blogs out there, but these tips will help increase your site’s engagement.
While I often stand by my work proudly, the nature of this story begged that it be anonymous out of respect to my family, friends and those involved. The story was published on a popular website and within a day or two garnered over 1 million likes and thousands of comments that ran the gamut from harsh to supportive.
Whether a new blogger, veteran writer or aspiring traveler hoping to document your travels, the following tips will help build your audience and take your website to the next level.
