It’s early morning when I arrive in London sleep deprived and jet lagged after a red-eye flight from New York. In all honesty, I am not the biggest fan of London town. Something about the city is oddly reminiscent of NYC. London is simply too corporate, too busy, too similar to NYC; a cleaner, more eloquent version of my lovely albeit gritty home. Too buttoned up for my liking. When I travel, I like to be thrown outside my comfort zone—for better or worse—and London is well within the confines of the familiar.

Then again, it is only my second time in London and I have yet to explore the city beyond the Times Square like Picadilly Circus and cliché selfie-takers in front of Big Ben. I arrive first at Shoreditch before moving to the COMO Metropolitan that is walking distance from Buckingham Palace.

The hotel is classic and perfection; the sort of hotel that is meticulously detailed and attentive to high quality and crisp, cleanliness. The hotel balances contemporary design and decor with a certain timeless nostalgia that is hard to capture. The COMO Metropolitan is at once simple yet complex.

In short, it’s exactly the type of hotel you might expect to find in London. Centrally located, impossibly accommodating and above all luxurious and comfortable.
