We’ve all been there. You’ve just returned from a trip and your camera is practically bursting with the hundreds of photos you took. You’re not entirely sure what you’re going to do with all the photos but you couldn’t help take 100 snapshots of the Eiffel Tower.
You sift through your photos and share the handful you deem the best on social media. After a week, the likes have rolled in, the comments have come through and now you’re left with beautiful photos that live online.
Rather than leave your travel shots on Facebook-only to be viewed when wanderlust strikes-you can do so much more with them! From DIY galleries to showcase your travels to customized coffee books; here’s some creative ideas to make use of your travel photos.
1. DIY Travel Gallery

A DIY travel wall is a great way to showcase your best snapshots in your home. Using a mix of frames, pick some of your favorite travel photos and hang them up in a collage-style on your wall. For my travel wall, I like to use frames of all sizes as well as throw in some paintings, framed quotes and other travel souvenirs picked up along the way. Brooke from World of Wanderlust shares an excellent step-by-step tutorial for building your own DIY Travel Gallery, which I used when creating mine! Check it out here.
2. Pin the Map Photos
If you have a large pushpin map, one great way to showcase your travel photos is to incorporate them with your map. At home, I have the map that inspired The Pin the Map Project and surrounding it are photos of previous travels.
To be fair, this lovely tradition was started by my boyfriend who came up with the idea of picking 5 favorite photos from each trip and putting them up by the map. It’s a beautiful idea and a great way to share those travel memories.
3. Instagram Chatbooks

Some of our best travel photos go up on Instagram, so why not create a book of your Instagram photos? Chatbooks is a great service I came across that allows you to create printed books from your Instagram feed. Whether to be shared as a coffee table book, a gift or something to keep around for when you’re feeling nostalgic; I love the idea of pulling my best Instagram shots into a book.
4. Scrapbooking
When your return from a trip, chances are you’ll have ticket stubs, brochures and other mementos from abroad. Scrapbooking is a great way to combine photos with memorabilia into a book that you can look at again and again.
5. Custom Photo Pillows

Shutterfly is an awesome service that offers various ways to turn your photos into customized items. From mugs to magnets to pillows, Shutterfly seems to have it all. One great way to make use of your travel photos is creating custom, decorative pillows with them for your living room.
6. Magnets & Calendars
Another quick and easy way to make use of your travel photos is creating custom magnets and calendars. Great as gifts or simply having around the home, these custom projects are a fun way to showcase your travels.
7. Sell your Prints!
If you’re looking to make a little extra money, consider opening an Etsy shop to sell your framed prints! I’ve seen bloggers who sell their best, framed travel prints for anywhere from $5 to $15. It’s a creative way to monetize your work and share your travel snapshots with people around the world.
