It might very well be impossible to explore all that Mexico City has to offer in a mere 24 hours. Thc city seems to be the perfect storm of everything you could possibly want out of a destination—gorgeous architecture, a rising culinary scene, affordable prices, a riveting history, surrounding nature, historical ruins and a trip away from the beaches.
I found myself in Mexico City-the start and end point-of my recent road trip through Oaxaca. Admittedly, my excitement for Oaxaca overshadowed my visit to Mexico City and so, when I landed in La Ciudad I didn’t know what to expect. I knew Mexico City to be the beacon of safety-having distanced itself from the Drug War—and tourism in a country often shrouded by violence and negative headlines. What I had not anticipated was just how beautiful and reminiscent of Europe Mexico’s capital would prove.
The city seems to appeal to every type of traveler imaginable-the history buffs, self-proclaimed foodies, shopping addicts and adventurers. From Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul to the famed Luchador fights in the main arena, the city is a never ending pulse of energy. As part of my new video partnership with Mode Media, I was tasked with capturing my Mexican adventure and so, challenged myself to see Mexico City in a handful of hours.
