When I board international flights I often joke that my appearance will comically start to decline as the flight progresses. My skin will become dry, my voice will become hoarse with the cabin air, my under eye circles grow darker as I try to sleep, my hair gets wild and then I ultimately emerge from the bowels of the plane looking like Tom Hanks from Castaway. While traveling, my skin proves finicky-swinging from oily to dry to occasional breakouts due to the difference in climate, temperature and diet I inevitably experience when abroad. While I have my beauty routine at home, often times it doesn’t stand up to the changes I experience while traveling.
Recently, I came across 100% Pure products and was intrigued by the natural skincare and cosmetics that they offer as an alternative to many of the harsher chemicals that make up my everyday skin care and face washes. I decided to give my face a break and try natural products for a change in hopes of finding new travel essentials to maintain my skincare while traveling; after five days I found it!
Day 1: Taking my morning coffee…on my face
I tried the Caffeine Mask and admittedly I look like some sort of horror movie character (thankfully, I had enough foresight to wait until my boyfriend wasn’t home to try this mask on). The mask is cooling and I find myself fidgeting with it a bit over the next few minutes then let it settle into place and wear it for 20-25 minutes. When I take the mask off and rinse my face, my skin feels noticeably softer and fresh and (although it’s just the first mask and I have 4 more left).
Day 2: Hello hydration!
I wake up, rinse my face and put on the Coffee Cherry Cream moisturizer with UV repair. I love the fragrance that seems to smell more like chocolate than cherry and coffee. My skin (which fluctuates between oily or dry normally) instantly feels hydrated with this cream. I follow up with the Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream to combat any under eye circles and go about my day.
Day 3: An irresistible smelling face
My boyfriend now excitedly exclaims “cocoa face!” when he kisses me because the coffee cherry cream really does smell like chocolate. I have to say I’m surprised my skin isn’t breaking out as it is always quite finicky when it comes to my testing of new facial products. I’ve gotten in quite a groove here with washing my face in the morning and putting on the Coffee cherry cream moisturizer and eye cream and then at night washing my face, using some Neutrogena Rapid Clear pads and then putting on the Brightening serum and Vitamin A Wrinkle smoothing night cream (because at age 27 I’ve been told it’s smart to use anti-wrinkle creams now).
Day 4: Is that a glow I see?
I roll my eyes at those cheesy commercials where someone will go on about how their new skin care makes them skin glow; so imagine my surprise when I found that these 100% Pure products actually make me feel like I have a glow! It’s been a few days now and my skin care routine has not caused any breakouts, has left my skin feeling hydrated and soft, healthy and glowing.
Day 5: Consider me sold.
There is something to be said about using 100% natural products on your skin; I love knowing that my skin care is becoming healthy without the use of harsh chemicals like salicylic acid (which is not to say I won’t still use those products when breakouts arise). When I travel, my skin is like a conduit of the environment around me-it reacts to dietary changes, the sun, temperatures, stress and anything else I may experience on the road yet in testing out these products for the past week in New York, I am completely sold on 100% Pure products as my travel essentials.
Enter for a chance to win 100% Pure products and fall in love with these beauty travel essentials like I did!
